HAPPINESS LIVES IN SMALL SPACES

I N F A C T, W H E R E D O E S H A P P I N E S S L I V E?

I N T H E S O U L O R I N A B I G H O U S E?

Did you answer "In a big house"?

Can you please tell me on which floor?

Why not go to Europe in search of the houses where famous people lived? Why not organize a trip aimed at visiting the Croisset pavilion where Flaubert worked, Mallarmé's house, the one in Brittany where Kenneth White still writes today, the famous Le Corbusier's hut in the south of France , of the wooden house in which Tolstoy lived in Moscow, of Grieg's house, and the like? Seeing them, you will understand that a house does not have to be huge to offer happiness.

"A house is not built for decoration, but for the happiness of the man who owns it." - LE CORBUSIER

"Small houses and small rooms strengthen the spirit, and large ones weaken it." - LEONARDO DA VINCI

"If the doors of perception were open, Everything would appear as it is: infinity." - WILLIAM BLAKE

In France, Le Corbusier's cottage - a gift for his wife - measuring 3.60 m long and 3.60 m wide and built with sea views, is one of the symbols of modular architecture. If the famous architect spent a month of vacation there every year, it means that he found in this space what the big houses could not offer him. This tiny hut probably allowed him to reflect for a long time and to ask himself the questions that more and more people today ask themselves: what is our origin? How can we live on the opposite side of what society is proposing to us? Probably a factor as to why they're doing so poorly.

The ideal house: the one where there is almost nothing to do.

In a Lilliputian room, the solution is a small sofa (ah, what could be more stylish than Le Corbusier's famous LC2 model!) and a Japanese mattress. Japanese or Korean mattresses are extremely compact and take up very little space after being folded and hidden in a closet. I put mine in a cupboard above the desk. After being laid out on the carpet, the whole room becomes a huge bed. And their firmness prevents a herniated disc. In addition, on sunny days they can be ventilated through the window. White leather, pearl-gray carpet ... one or two luxurious elements are enough to turn a room into a space worthy of the most chic hotels.
