I'm Still Standing!

We are living through times when self-isolation in our own homes is an experience we definitely never imagined that would be possible. And now people all over the world are seeking and giving answers to what is happening to us.

For this exact reason, the sisters Ana and Irina Wagner have created the collection “I'm Still Standing!”, which is also an answer to the current situation. The collection, consisting of objects and T-shirts (produced in cooperation with The F Factor), is meant to convey that resistance through love is an attitude. With more than simple objects or items of clothing, the collection is an invitation to introspection, to getting through “states of emergency” by solidarity, humour and love. It is also a way to express another life story. “I’m still standing!” brings us together in face of the evil massively represented by what is happening now. 10% of the proceeds from the sale are donated to the Association ZI DE BINE, a charity headed by Melania Medeleanu, involved in raising funds for medical appliances and equipment the doctors need - www.zidebine.ro.

Why “I'm Still Standing!”? Ana Wagner is telling the story of creating this collection. “The symbolic drawings I made during the days of isolation (with the scarce writing and drawing tools I found amongst my child’s toys – a bundle of felt pens and sheets of colour paper) represent the state/states of mind our small family goes though from sunrise to sunset. We must confess, it is not all harmony in isolation, though LOVE helps us return everything to harmony. Talking on the phone with friends and family helped us understand that we all go through the same and diverse states of mind, and we all behave similarly”, says the artist.

In the jewellery I create HOME is the symbol of the cosy and safe space where, as a child, I was LOVED. That is how I felt. That is how I lived. And that is how I believed it was worth living. And this all the more so now, when we are locked in our own HOMES for an indefinite period of time. I believe that only LOVE can save us. All of us are in the same situation and together we will get through it. We are in isolation in the physical sense, and not in the spiritual one. We are in “social distancing”, as told, but we haven’t lost contact with each other. Neither have we lost contact with our memories, values, faith, hope, and God. HOME is maybe the place where we find everything good in ourselves, the place where we find LOVE, adds Ana Wagner.

The artist also believes that love is hidden even in the most frozen souls and hearts. And a small sign is enough to make it bloom: a word, a gesture, the memory of an apparently insignificant object. The experience we are living through today is going to enhance our self-control, kindness and tolerance, basically, the behaviour that generates love. Let us reflect on and appreciate the little things, find ourselves and become again closer to our loved ones”. And, to act upon Ana’s advice: “Unfortunately, there are and will be tragedies, depression, pain, sadness in all this plight that has disrupted the world. Through LOVE, however, we will not fall. We are witnessing a terrible clash between Good and Evil. LOVE gives us the strength to be on the side of the Good. It will keep us standing and together. Rebirth will start from the HOME of each and every one of us, starting with the simplest declaration of love for humanity: I'm Still Standing!”.
