INSTRUCTIONS FOR PAINTING ON PORCELAIN OVER THE GLAZE (fired at 800°)
- Before painting the object, degrease the glazed surface of the object with alcohol.
- Porcelain pigments are water-based pigments, they are diluted with water to obtain the desired colour intensity.
- It can be painted more transparently or more pasty, depending on the desired colour intensity, as with watercolours.
- In a slightly more consistent layer of colour, it can be scratched with a needle or a sharp brush tip.
- Special recommendations: red, yellow and orange should be applied in a more consistent layer to obtain an intense colour tone.
- Any colour can be removed by scratching (if it is something minor to repair) or with a cotton swab, or by washing under running water if the decoration is to be completely removed.
- Handle painted objects with care, as the colours can easily rub off before firing.
- After firing at 800 degrees, the colours become more glossy and intense.
